Micro computers
October 11, 2008
When announced some 6+ months ago, the Asus EeePc caused quite a stir. Though there were plenty of skeptics, I couldn’t help but want one! There was something about the tiny form-factor that really appealed.
Since then, many other manufacturers have followed; HP have released their micro notebook, with built-in HDD and Acer have recently launched the ‘Acer Aspire One‘. So it appears the market is growing.
I’ve had the opportunity to test all of these – I was concerned that my large fingers would be too big for the small keyboards, and, for me, that ruled out the HP model. The Asus EeePC was the best in this regard – no bigger than the others, but somehow easier to use. But, I didn’t go through with the purchase. The lack of HDD has put me off. I’m interested to know if anyone has one of these and how they find it. Is the lack of local storage in some models a big no-no, or will the emergence of cloud computing fuel this trend?
